Dumped newborn saved by stray dogs in Bihar
Patna, April 23 (IANS) In a rare incident, a newborn baby girl, abandoned by her mother, was reportedly saved by a group of stray dogs in Bihar.
An unidentified woman abandoned the baby girl Sunday night in a deserted garden near Narhan village in Samastipur district, about 80 km from here.
“We suspect that soon after the newborn baby girl was abandoned, some stray dogs protected her till villagers gathered to rescue her,” Maheshwar Sah, a villager said.
According to eyewitnesses, some villagers entered the garden ón hearing dogs barking. To their surprise, they found a newborn baby girl covered in dry soil and mud. “It was amazing to watch a newborn protected by dogs like a mother,” a villager said.
Later, she was adopted by a childless couple of the village.
The police said they are investigating who abandoned the new-born girl.
