Mumbai blast suspect, Faiz Usmani dies after questioning

New Delhi, Jul 17: A key Mumbai blast suspect, Faiz Usmani who was picked up for questioning for his alleged involvement in the terror attacks has died in custody. Faiz is the brother of Afzal Usmani who is an Ahmedabad and Surat blast suspect. The duo were allegedly members of the Indian Mujahideen.

Afzal reportedly took ill soon after the ATS and the Mumbai Crime branch finished questioning him on Saturday. According to sources, he allegedly fell ill and was immediately taken to hospital. He is believed to have been taken to the nearby Sion hospital where he eventually died. Preliminary comments from doctors suggest that Faiz died of brain hemorrhage.

Family members of Faiz suspect foul play behind the death. The body has now been sent for post mortem that will reveal the exact reason for the death. His son has been quoted as saying, “My father was picked up for question. He was pressurised during the interrogation. The police is to blame for his death.”
