New York, Aug 29: Hollywood actor Joseph Hyungmin Son, who shot fame from his role in “Austin Powers” has been convicted in connection with the 1990 abduction and gang rape of a 20-year-old Californian woman.
The New York Daily news said the KTLA reports revealed that the Orange County woman was walking her dog on Christmas Eve and looking at holiday lights in the neighborhood when she was snatched off the street and attacked. The victim was held at gunpoint and was raped many times as well as sexually assaulted with the weapon. It was also claimed that the victim was released nude by the rapists with her pants tied around her eyes. Son has been charged along with other accused.
Son wasn’t arrested for 18 years after the crime. In 2008, after violating probation on vandalism charge, he was charged with numerous counts of assault when his DNA was found to match a sample from the victim. Son is slated to be sentenced on September 19, and faces 15 years to life in prison.
