Cash-for-votes: Not bail but jail for sting kingpin Kulkarni

New Delhi, Sep 27: The “mastermind” of sting operation in Cash-for-Votes scam, Sudheendra Kulkarni has been sent to jail on Tuesday, Sep 27. Kulakarni, the one time right hand of BJP leader, LK Advani, appeared before a Delhi court seeking interim bail.

Kulkarni claimed that he was “a whistle blower” with a motive to expose corruption in the cash-for-votes scam. “I was only a whistle blower and my purpose was to expose the rampant corruption,” stated Kulkarni.

Kulkarni, while reminding that he has so far co-operated in the investigation in the 2008 scam, said, “There is no reason to deny interim bail to a person whose regular bail is pending (in the court) and who was not arrested during the investigation.”

However, proving his (Kulkarni’s) stand over the issue wrong, the Delhi court led by Special Judge Sangita Dhingra Sehgal sent him to the judicial custody till Oct 1.

Meanwhile, another big cat in the whole cash-for-votes, close aide of Amar Singh, Suhail Hindustani’s judicial custody has been extended till Oct 14.
