Woman kills three daughters, hangs self

A woman allegedly killed her three daughters by drowning them in a well and then hanged herself at Motivirva village in Paliyad near Botad on Thursday. The local police and fire brigade fished out all the three bodies in the afternoon.

The bodies have been sent for post-mortem. The Bhavnagar rural police have registered a case of murder and suicide against Prabha Punja Shiyal (34) and begun investigation.

The police so far are clueless about the motive behind the act. They believe domestic issues or financial constraint could be the reason.

The woman’s husband, Punja, is a farmer. Punja reportedly was at work at the time of incident.

The police said the neighbours first spotted Prabha hanging from a ceiling fan at their residence in Motivirva village. After a while, the bodies of all the three daughters were found floating in the village well. The girls have been identified as Kinjal (7), Sharda (3.5) and Kuku (1.5).

According to the Bhavnagar police, Prabha took her daughters to the village well in the early hours of Thursday and threw them in water. Later, she committed suicide at home.

This is the third incident of extended suicide reported in a fortnight’s time. In the first two incidents reported from Rajkot district, financial constraints were the reason behind the extreme step. still Police arrest husband for no fault by default. if man commit suicide, will these Police arrest women / wife ?
