Hyderabad: A man who suspects fidelity of his wife killed his two children by pushing them into a well.

The incident took place at Renigunta near the temple town of Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh’s Chittoor district.

Police said Srinivasulu, a taxi driver, murdered his 12-year-old daughter and nine-year-old son by pushing them into a well. Local people in Mallavaram area on Friday found bodies of the two children floating in the well. They informed the police, which had already received a complaint from Srinivasulu’s wife Ishwaramma that the children were missing.

Police arrested Srinivasulu after Ishwaramma identified the bodies. During interrogation, the taxi driver confessed that he committed the crime, the police claimed.

Ishwaramma told the police that her husband had made an attempt on her life a few months ago as he suspected her fidelity. After this incident, she went to her parents’ house with her children. He, however, apologised for his behaviour and convinced her to return home.

The woman said she grew suspicious when Srinivasulu left home on Thursday with the children and did not return after sunset. She then lodged a complaint with the police.
