Jan Lokpal fight: Hindu, Muslim, Christian deviate

New Delhi, Aug 22: It might prove as a major setback for the struggle initiated by 74-year-old Anna Hazare as reports surfaced that many Christian youths do not support the Gandhian crusader.

Former president of the Indian Catholic Youth Movement, Rakesh Singh has been quoted as saying, “We are all against corruption but we do not support the way Hazare is blackmailing the government.”

Meanwhile, the Shahi Imam of Jama Masjid in Delhi, Syed Ahmed Bukhari asked all Muslims to stay away from Anna’s fast venue – Ramlila Maidan.

The Imam raised his objection with Anna’s usage of words such as – “Vande Mataram“, “Bharat Mata Ki Jay” while addressing people.

“Islam does not condone the worship of the nation or land. It does not even condone worship of the mother who nurtures a child in her womb for nine months,” stated Bukhari.

Continuing his statement, the Imam also claimed, “How can Muslims then join his stir with a war cry that is against the basic tenets of their religion?”

Citing the current situation, it seems that Anna Hazare’s mission of bringing strong Jan Lokpal Bill might be confronted with religious controversy.

However, here it can be recalled that Indian youths do not differ in their opinion on the movement – India Against Corruption. The nation has been watching a mass wave on roads in all cities around the country.
