A newly wed woman’s plan to reunite with her former lover were shattered when the latter ditched her a few days after she ran away with him. The woman, 23, claimed the accused identified as Sheikh Shahrukh had promised to marry her and had forced her into physical relationship.
The woman filed a rape complaint against Shahrukh, 25, a resident of Hansapuri. Shahrukh is an Std VIII pass while the woman had completed her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. A case has been registered at Ganeshpeth police station on Sunday. Registering officer PSI JB Gadge statd that Shahrukh had forced the woman to run away with him. “The woman had come to her parent’s place for a few days when Shahrukh contacted her again. He promised to marry her and insisted that they elope. Shahrukh stays near her house,” Gadge said.
The woman was married just one-and-half month ago to a highly qualified man from Itwari. She was having an affair with Shahrukh for the past two years after the two met during a garba dance programme. The woman’s parents were against she marrying Shahrukh over his low qualification and forced her to marry the man of their choice, a company secretary.
Gadge told TOI that the woman had agreed to Shahrukh’s plan and both eloped on June 18. The woman stated in her complaint that Shahrukh first took her to Ajmer where they stayed for a few days. Meanwhile, the woman’s parents filed a missing complaint at Ganeshpeth police station while Shahrukh’s parents filed his missing complaint at Tehsil police station.
The woman’s parents had suspected Shahrukh behind her going missing and had provided his number to the Ganeshpeth police. The police traced Shahrukh’s phone at Bhopal. A police team reached Bhopal and found them even as Shahrukh was searching for a room to rent for them to stay together. Both were brought to Nagpur by the police.
On learning the truth, the woman’s husband refused to accept her. On the other hand, Shahrukh, too, refused to marry her. On realizing that Shahrukh had cheated her, the woman lodged a rape complaint against him. He has been arrested and is in police custody for two days.

Now her husband may face false dowry or Domestic violence case and force him to take her back and Indian law will support her and if divorced Indian legal system will force him to pay Mainetenance.
