In the notorious comedy movie “Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan”, the wierd and obsessed Borat chases Pamela Anderson around America with the intention of making her his wife. He unfortunately gets the boot.
A similarly obsessed Bora (Siva Kumar) harassed and threatened a young girl with indecent proposals, ultimately provoking her to commit suicide. And all this while being on ‘abstinence’ deeksha for 40 days. It is sad that despite a case being registered against him, he continued his vendetta. It is important for police to follow up on ‘restraining orders’ in the immediate period after registration of complaints.
VISAKHAPATNAM 27 Dec: Pestered by a youth’s proposals of love and harassed by his indecent phone calls, a 17-year-old girl committed suicide at Simhachalam near Visakhapatnam on Friday morning. The second-year intermediate student of St Joseph’s College, S Indira, consumed a poisonous substance to end her life unable to bear the harassment from the youth, Bora Siva Kumar (24) of the same area. Ironically, the youth has been observing Ayyappa deeksha.
The girl’s parents lodged a complaint with police in September as Siva was constantly pestering the girl to marry him and even threatend to pour acid on her if she spurned his love.
Sources said though the Gopalapatnam police took him into custody after registering a case, he managed to come out on bail. “Once he was out, he again started harassing Indira by constantly calling her on her cell phone and threatening her,” a relative said. Siva is an electrician.
“The accused even threatened to splash acid on Indira if she married any other person,” a relative of the victim said. Sources said the harried girl stopped going to college in the last couple of months as Siva kept making threatening calls.
Girl’s father Sivaprasad, who runs a small shop selling Lord Varaha Lakshminarasimha Swamy photos and rings near the temple at Simhachalam hillock, said despite warnings the youth pestered his daughter. “He caused deep mental stress and agony not only to my daughter but to my family and relatives,” he wailed.
Meanwhile, the police launched a manhunt to nab Siva.
