AHMEDABAD: Anger pushed her to the limit and she did not think twice before clubbing and stabbing her onetime mentor and lover, Kunal Pancholi, to death.
Megha Shah, 20, one of the two main accused in Kunal’s murder, would never lead a life she or her parents had dreamt for her, though she had got enrolled for the diploma course in Information Technology.
Megha completed her class X exam in 2004 with a commendable score of 607 marks out of 700. With 88 per cent marks, she took admission in Government Polytechnic for Women to study Information Technology.
But, something seemed to go wrong. Megha became an ‘average student’ . A student of the sixth semester, her teachers remember her as an average student.
“The same girl who got 88 per cent in class X, four years later, failed in seven out of eight subjects in her end-semester exams. She actually scored a zero in mathematics, despite being a student of IT. Her score ranged from 0 to 36. She missed college at least five to seven days every month. She last came to college on August 22, that too, to collect her results,” YM Shukla, the principal of the polytechnic said.
Megha had also recently completed her four-month industrial training at an IT firm – Unique Infotech.
Megha had three close friends in college and apparently , even though they knew of the love affair between Megha and Kunal, none of them knew of the p ro bl e m s brewing between them. “Megha used to always carry an expensive mobile,” they say.
Kunal, 25, was killed in cold blood, by Megha and Chirag Rana, 22, a friend of Megha. According to Megha’s confession, they killed Kunal because he broke up with her, but continued to have sex with her, blackmailing her with a video clip of her and Kunal.
