Youth killed over illicit affair, 2 held

VADODARA: A youth was murdered by contract killers for having illicit relationship with a trader’s wife near Vihar cinema hall on Pratapnagar Road on Tuesday night. Police arrested the man, who struck the contract for murder, and his son on Wednesday.

Gopal Mali, owner of Nandlal Kachoriwala and his son Bunty, had contracted Nilesh Salat’s murder for Rs 50,000, said SV Sagar, police inspector of Vadi police station. Before dying, Salat told his freind Gopal More that Mali and his son had got him killed. “Based on this statement, we have arrested the father-son duo,” said BK Shrimali, deputy commissioner of police.

“Hired killers intercepted Salat on Tuesday evening near Vihar cinema and stabbed him to death with sharp objects. During interrogation, Mali admitted to having employed contract killers on the job, said police. “We are now looking for the contract killers and will catch them soon,” said Shrimali.

Salat, staying at Maru Faliya, was unmarried and employed at Patel Carbon factory in Pratapnagar. When Mali came to know of his wife’s affair with Salat, he gave a supari’ of Rs 50,000 to professional killers to break Salat’s limbs, of which Rs 10,000 were paid in advance.
