After WB, Orissa gets renamed as ‘Odisha’, Oriya turns Odia

New Delhi, Sep 6: Its just like a baby getting its new name. After West Bengal gets renamed as Paschimbanga, now its the turn of its neighbour Orissa. The Lok Sabha on Tuesday, Sep 6 gave the final nod to a constitutional amendment for changing the name of Orissa to Odisha and the Oriya language to Odia.

The Orissa (Alteration of Name) Bill and the Constitution (113th) Amendment Bill were unanimously passed by the 301 members present in the house. The related bills, already given a go-ahead by the Rajya Sabha, were passed by the Lok Sabha after minor changes to the legislation.

These politician change name of the city and places for political reason and their gain,but they never try to change or improve people life, Bombay to Mumbai, Madras to Chennai, Bangalore to Bengaluru, but nothing benifited to the common man, a Common man exclaimed.
