Norway blasts: Why were ‘atrocious’ killings necessary?

Oslo, Jul 24: Anders Behring Breivik, the detained supect of the Norway twin blasts claimed that he has been preparing the terror attacks since 2009. Breivik’s statements shocked many when he also claimed the “atrocious killing” were “necessary.”

Talking to a TV Channel, Breivik’s lawyer Geir Lippestad said, “He has said that he believed the actions were atrocious, but that in his head they were necessary.”

An electronic book comprising 1,500 pages has been published by a Norwegian website. The book, which was reportedly authored by Breivik, said, “Once you decide to strike, it is better to kill too many than not enough, or you risk reducing the desired ideological impact of the strike.”

According to the police, the deadly twin militant attacks in Norway on Saturday, Jul 22 left at least 91 dead and many injured. The deceased were mainly young people attending a summer camp of the youth wing of Norway’s ruling Labour Party on an idyllic island.

Breivik, who is expected to court trial on Monday, Jul 25, has also been arrested for the bombing of Oslo’s government district that killed seven people.
