BSY family received Rs 10 crore from a private firm: Hegde

Bangalore, July 27: While addressing the media after submitting the report on illegal mining in Karnataka, state Lok Ayukta Santosh Hegde said that a mining company in Karnataka donated Rs 10 crore to a trust owned by Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa’s family members.

Santosh Hegde also added that the the company paid Rs 20 crore for purchase of land by the trust far above the guidance value which makes for an offence under Prevention of Corruption Act.

“I have recommended to the Governor for further action in this regard. The donation was made by the company for reasons other than genuine,” said Hegde.

Karnataka Lok Ayukta submitted the mammoth report with more than 25,228 pages to the State Secretary on Wednesday, Jul 27. Media reports revealed that Hegde has indicted state Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa, Reddy brothers, former chief minister, JDS chief HD Kumaraswamy and many other prominent leaders in the report.

According to LokAyukta report, the illegal minig in the state between 2006-2010 caused a loss of nearly Rs 16,085 crore to the state exchequer.
