Youth Hangs after wifes DVA Complaint

AHMEDABAD: A 27-year-old youth hanged himself in Vatva on Tuesday evening after a quarrel with his wife. It happened to be his birthday too, said police officials investigating the case.

According to Vatva police station officials, Manish Koshti, a resident of Soham Residency, was found hanging from the ceiling fan of his room by his wife and son around 7 pm. He had not left behind any suicide note, said officials.

“When we questioned the family members, we got to know that Koshti worked as a loan agent with a private bank in the city. He married Lata six years ago and the couple had a five-year-old son, Krish. However, soon after Krish’s birth, the duo had quarrels as Lata was apparently not happy with Koshti’s family members. The petty problems took an ugly turn when Lata filed a complaint against him in 2008 after which he asked her to leave the house,” said a police official.

The judgement came in August this year where the sessions court ordered him to pay her Rs 1,500 every month and also allow her to stay in his house.

It led Koshti to depression as he was not ready to see his wife every day. He did not allow her to mingle with Krish. However, her presence in the house triggered quarrels between them.

“Tuesday was Koshti’s birthday. However, he was in no mood of celebration. When he returned home at 5.30 pm, he had a quarrel with Lata. He then locked himself in a room. When he did not respond to repeated banging on the door, Lata called neighbours and broke open the door. Koshti had hanged himself by then,” said the official.
